Single D/A Converter
A Digital device is either on or off, like a light switch. An analog device is on, off, or at any point in between. A common example of an analog device is a lamp dimmer. In animation, analog movements give the fluid, life-like movements needed to bring a figure to life.
A DAC-08 Single D/A Converter takes the Digital data stored in an animation system and converts it back to an analog signal. The DAC-08 can be used when you need to control mechanical feedback (MFB) pneumatic actuators, lamp dimmers, hydraulic or pneumatic servo driver cards, and similar 0-10 volt-controlled devices.
Features of the DAC-08 include:
- Plugs into any digital output through standard J-6 cable.
- Eight bit resolution gives 256 discrete output steps. Twelve bit single D/A converters are available for 4096 stop resolutions.
- Stable 2.5 volt reference.
- Draws power from J-6 data cable.
- Can be powered by optional 15 to 24 vdc power supply.
- Optoisolators on all inputs.
- Outputs can be isolated completely from data cable.
- Output current to 24 ma.
- Independently adjustable end points for 0 to 10 volt analog output or anything in between.
- No interaction between end point adjustments.
- Indicator LEDs show analog output levels on all channels.
